A STONES THROW
The Rock Church has been through a huge milestone this week in her 20+ year journey. The signing of the closing documents for the purchase of our 49,000 SF facility. What began as a vision has become a reality! This picture is the vacant land the building now sits on.
I can remember being a 14-year old boy when my mom and dad turned to me and announced they were going into the ministry. Later that year the first service would be held at Maltby Elementary on Christmas Eve (December 1984). The church would settle down in the city of Woodinville, eventually moving back to Monroe in 1994.
One Sunday Anne Gimenez, a close friend of mom and dad, had a a prophetic word. The Lord spoke that our building would be "a stones throw" from the '94 location (a warehouse I can see from my office). After service mom went out and threw a rock into what was then a cow pasture.
In 1996 we went across town and purchased the Bethel Assembly church building; meanwhile, the development of the Fryelands business park would commence. Large buildings were being constructed and occupied by big companies.
After the accident in 2000 the church grew very fast. We were having 3 services on Sunday morning and 7 total per week. It was time to look at the potential of a new facility. Who would have thought that after years of research, planning and building that we would be located "a stones throw" from where we started in Monroe, especially since it was cows and grass.
I've seen the Lord do marvelous things through the people of The Rock Church. Buildings are simply the tip of the iceberg. What has been accomplished in the last 7 years is positioning TRC for the next 100!
Where will we "throw the stone" next? I've got some God-led ideas!
