SEVEN THINGS I LOVE

Random Thoughts, By Jeff Knight

7. I love a great story.
I cried when I saw the movie Gladiator and Maximus gave his life for the freedom of Rome. Really I did, that was a great story. I worked out like a freak when I saw Rock IV, I was convinced I could turn my 160 lb 15 year old body into a sculpted mass of lean physique after seeing that movie. I love a great story. I read novels, usually in one sitting. I devoured Where the Red Fern Grows as a kid. Seriously, I love a great story.

My mom used to tell this story about a bull getting hit with a pitchfork, and striking her horse with her on it. She fell to the ground and in the bulls suffering it turned it's buttocks toward her and pooped all over her horse and in her mouth. I used to roar with laughter when I heard that story.

I don't care what story it is. I love real life stories of people who come into my life, usually through the church, and encounter an awesome moment of life change. I love dramas, and thrillers. For instance, I love the movie I am Legend with Will Smith even though it scares the daylights out of me; he saves the infected people. I relate to the commitment he has to save the infected people needing a cure; likewise, I know our world needs a cure, Jesus.

There is nothing like a good story. I love imagining myself as David facing off with Goliath, or how would I react if I was Joseph and betrayed by my brothers. What does it look like to be Solomon, or Elijah or Peter? I love those stories about Bible characters.

I guess it comes down to the fact that stories are what make up good family, good churches, good movies, good books and good life. I love good stories...

BONUS...

I love staying up late at night, I love talking theology with people smarter than me, I love talking God with everyone, I love waking up in the AM to the sun, who doesn't? I love air conditioning when it's hot, and a nice fire when it's cold. I love the sound of the waves in Hawaii and the quietness on the top of the snowy Cascades. What's not to love about life? Oh yeah, and I love my race car when the stagger is perfect, the sway bar is just right and the spring package is ideal for the conditions! I know, that last part was meaningless to many, but we can sum it up like this; with that kind of love 1st place is always possible.
