SEVEN THINGS I LOVE
Random thoughts, By Jeff Knight
5. I love a good adventure.
Climbing a mountain that once spewed molten hot lava. Pursuing a 5 point buck early into the morning and all day long. Going 130 mph down the backstretch at Evergreen Speedway. Turning out in an avalanche chute (low danger day) on a strongly horsepowered snowmobile. Jumping off of a high rock in to deep water. Riding a plank in any kind of wave, man made or boat enhanced. Run til I gasp. Squat until it burns. Clip into a bicycle pedal and go for it until dinner time. I love adventure.
Ok, so that's not all. I love exploring the Word of God like a mystery hoping to discover the hidden secrets, deepest meaning and original intent. Turning someone who just found Christ into a position of leadership to show them what they are capable of. Trying a worship song with raging guitar or soft piano. Really. It's all an adventure and I love it. I love to pray with seasoned believer's because their boldness is so contagious. I love to pray with brand new Christians because I feel a responsibility to care for their understanding. Watching a young person study the word, witness to a friend, leave the country on a missions trip. These are the adventures I love. I love to visit a different church now and then, go to a new conference, meet a pastor I may never have anything in common with. It's an adventure. I love to explore the values of people, the demographics of the cities I know and the strategies on how to reach them.
I love to fail, especially when it's big and everybody knows we just bombed. I mean I don't love it when something is stolen, but when we attempt something to reach people for Christ and it bombs, I love that adventure. Know why? Because most of this time it doesn't bomb, in fact, sometimes it's so amazing, that I want to try something else for the first time because of the possibilities of people being saved, found, discovered. Can you imagine if we didn't adventure out into the world and fail a time or two? I can't.
I love adventure, especially ones with a little drama. You know, like when it pours down rain and you neglected to put the rain slicker on the tent and now your searching through the campsite in your boxers with the other 8 campsites who are doing the same. I love a good adventure.
6. I love a saved soul.
Once I was dead, but now I am found. And it is all because Jesus saved my life! What is there to say about what Christ did on the cross that has not been said? nothing. Bottom line, saving souls is what Jesus does. I work for him. I love a saved soul.
