JEREMIAH 17:7-8

We are living in tumultuous times--what a week it's been on Wall Street! Without getting into the economics of our country let's suffice to write this statement--What happens on Wall Street and Pennsylvania Avenue has an impact on you and I, so I think it important to share perspective and ask questions regarding our life in the area of finances.

Jeremiah 17:7-8, "But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit."

Not afraid and not aloof.
Are you afraid in these American financial times? You should not be, the strength of our nation has lasted centuries. Yet, in times like these, wonderful people are going through difficult times. Instead of being afraid and potentially drawing back, help.

Are you aloof to the tumultuous time the world financial markets and people are experiencing? You should not be. The events of this year will impact ourselves and our children for years to come. This is a serious time to pray, fast and share words of strength, faith and hope over those in your family and in your church. Get in the game; in fact, use the scripture above.

Trust.
Is your trust in the Lord or the investment portfolio? Sleep well at night if your more dependent upon the Lord to sustain your life than you are on Wall Street to sustain your life. God will be faithful to supply all you need.

Can you flourish in times of drought? People are. I talked with someone who is struggling to find work the other day; meanwhile, I talked with another in the same industry that is flourishing.

Positioning.
The above scripture is all about positioning. If you position yourself along the river bank (God, His Word, Giving, generosity) you'll never quit producing fruit.

"There are a lot of trees in this world; the question is, where are you planted?"

Pray this. God, you are the sole provider for my family. I will be like a tree planted along a river bank. I will flourish in drought and heat. I will never stop producing fruit!
