WEEKEND REFLECTIONS
SABBATH~
What has been known on this blog as Sunday Night Summaries has turned to Weekend Reflections and I am better off for it. I have been diligently honoring Mondays Off, which is my Sabbath, by not doing work on Mondays. All of us need, at minimum, one day a week where we shut off the computer and put down the Blackberry. Your Sabbath is the time to do what you want, when you want and how you want. On Mondays I awake when I'm rested, eat when I'm hungry and do what I want, and the thing I want more than anything on Monday is some time with my wife! We went to the Street of Dreams Monday morning together to look at what is hot this year in home design.
SUNDAY'S MESSAGE~
Denise Mira is the fastest talking parent I have ever heard! Here are a few excerpts from emails I received.
* Tracy wrote, "WOW, what a service. Denise has the energy of a thousand 3 year old kids. I am a mother and even though my son is 25, I still found her message inspiring and well organized. What a role to create and develop the lives of 5 boys, yikes! Anyway, I just wanted to say that it was a great message and it inspires us to be Godly every day of our lives, even if we are not currently raising children we still need to be examples for the people around us and people learn a lot about you not by what you say but by how you live your life and the examples you set."
* Two people testified of how they could not sleep on Sunday night because they were compelled to start reading No Ordinary Child.
* Noland told me he immediately gathered his boys and wife together for carved out family time.
This is the kind of fruit we can expect at The Rock Church for families. TRC is a church absolutely sold out to raising up nation changers.
TRC IS GROWING~
Weekly I look at the attendance trends in our church while asking myself questions like, "how does this week compare to the same weekend last year?" TRC grew 16 % from this same weekend last year (520/2006 and 617/2007)--and it's summer! This fall is going to be crazy!!!
TV COMMERCIAL
Jody and Heather from Arlington were here for the first time on Sunday. Jody told me they saw the commercial on TV, went to the website and totally connected with the church. Arlington is a bit of a drive for them for sure; nevertheless, if a church is alive, it's worth the drive!
KID'S CAMP
Dozens of children went to Accelerate this year. While talking with one young girl she told me how before she didn't have many friends at church, but after camp she has 5 friends. It made me remember how important it was to be accepted by people when I first came to church, and how important it is to accept people no matter which generation you come from.
GENEROSITY
One of our market place men came to me with a check he'd received for his business. He asked for accountability because he wants to give 10% of his gross to the church. He showed me the check he'd received and handed me a check for 10%. We prayed and laid hands on his check and proclaimed favor over his business. I believe with all my heart God is doing something in the hearts of business leaders like this. Those who are obedient to the Word of the Lord will explode with increase and blessing upon their businesses. "God gives us the power to gain wealth in order to establish His covenant with us." Make no mistake, God is interested in market place leaders stepping to the forefront and underwriting their pastors vision. When the market place and ministry place unite the city benefits.
MORNING PRAYER
We are seeing a bunch of different people at morning prayer. Thank you to those who are coming regularly. I know all are experiencing breakthrough in this season. Daily we are lifting up the names of people we know in our church. Hundreds of names are lifted up daily! Next up, tomorrow at 8am.
