I CAN"T BELIEVE THIS!
Unbelievable, I can't believe this. In preparation of a new series I am starting on Sunday I called Denise Mira, author of the book pictured here, and asked her if there was a chance, just a small chance, she would come to our church. She said, "Absolutely, I have a passion for parents, when?" I answered, "How about this weekend? or next?" Understand, authors of good books are not available at a moments notice, in fact, I've never done such a thing myself! Call it divine spontaneity, plain stupidity or God, at the line like Peyton Manning, calling an audible to our weekend. It was like a last second buzzer beater and when I hung up I thought, "No worries, if she's busy we will bring her another time." Guess what? She called me back and said, "YES!" She is coming THIS SUNDAY, and I love it. She will speak for 30 minutes and then I will do some Q and A with her. This will be a landmark Sunday for parents and students of The Rock Church.
Here is the deal, if you know The Rock Church, then you know we have a passion for the next generation. When I read, No Ordinary Child, I was floored by the passion Denise has to raise the standard for our kids. There is no doubt this message needs to infiltrate TRC!
Here is an excerpt I think lays out what we are in store for this weekend at The Rock Church:
"How do we begin? First, we must always keep our vision before us, ahead of dirty diapers, the ever-dwindling groceries, a faraway Grandma who cannot help, relentless bills, and all the daily realities that want to distract us. We must raise our vision higher. I'll tell you what my vision is: I want to raise sons who are godly leaders in the earth who become men who make an impact. I see human tanks rolling across the nations as God's weapons of mass destruction, which He uses to raze the kingdom of hell. I want you to raise sons and daughters who are just the same."
Do not for one minute think this message is not for you. It does not matter if you are a parent or not, this weekend is for you. Look, I don't have children and I couldn't put the message down. I believe God divinely orchestrated, as only He can do, this message. If you are in town, DO NOT STAY HOME ON SUNDAY!
