IN THE BLOGLIGHT

In the BLOGLIGHT is our internship, THE QUARRY. In our 8th year, The Quarry was created for one purpose, "To Passionately develop young Christian leaders." This mission drives us to constantly put a new level of living before our post High School students. A lot of people see our interns at various community functions, church events, and mid-week helping and serving in the church, but few know what the program is really about.

This is what The Quarry teaches, addresses and admonishes our students to learn while they are here for the first year program (10-months):

Spiritually: We want students to grow in their character, relationship with God, vision for their life and commitment to personal growth.

Academically: We want students to develop the ability to study the Word of God, process daily life, develop observation skills for critical thinking, gain a knowledge about missions and fully understand what it takes to be active in the local church.

Vocationally: We want students to develop job skills, decision making abilities, time management practices, and basic communication skills in order to excel in life.

Ministerially: We want students to have "how to" training and hands on experience in a variety of ministry areas where they can discover their strengths, gifts and abilities to serve the local church life long.

Lifestyle: We want our students to develop discipline, integrity, exercise, and accountability.

Leadership: We want our students to take responsibility and lead, learn how to follow and serve by providing leadership opportunities for them to advance in.

Accountability: We want our students to challenge one another personally, spiritually and help each other set goals.

In essence The Quarry is about LIFE! It is about a student being able to discover God's plan for their life, focus on their purpose and then be catapulted into their future.

The Quarry is not about changing students into something they are not; instead, The Quarry is about tapping into the passions that God imparts to each student. We have learned that what a student becomes living with their parent's for 18 years cannot be changed in 10-months, but a student willing to make a total commitment to The Quarry will gain valuable life characteristics.
