Reflecting on 2 Cor 9:10

2 Cor 9:10, “For God, who gives seed to the farmer to plant, and later on good crops to harvest and eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest.” TLB

This scripture is one of the most powerful in the Bible. It says a lot about God’s character and His attributes. It starts by stating His name, “For GOD.” Two short words with one giant meaning. He is a mighty, awesome, powerful, majestic, healing, providing, lifter of our head. He is our attorney, advocate, alpha, omega and finisher of our faith. He is all that and so much more! He is all knowing and all complete. God lacks nothing!

He is all that, AND, “He gives seed to the farmer, and later the harvest!” God is the giver of everything in my life that creates substance. He is not only the provider of the beginning, but the provider of the end. He gives me, not just the substance of life, but food to eat. God provides everything for me.

And just when I think He has provided for my needs, He focuses me outward. He says, “I will give you more and more...so that you can give away more and more…” Now that’s what I’m talking about.

I have heard it said so many ways, but I believe, “if God can get it through me, He will get it to me.” What is it? It is whatever I need for planting, harvest, eating and giving away to another. Sometimes it’s hope, other times it is love, often times it is time. Sometimes it is money, other times it is friendship, often times it is encouragement. Sometimes it is patience, other times it is service, all the time it is Christ.

Lord, may my life be full of your substance. May I be the kind of farmer you can trust with more and more and may I have an abundance of fruit to give away.

Perhaps you are at the same place today; you want to always be a giver. It is a good place to be.
