A MESSAGE TO MY FRIENDS

Dear Friends,

Watching the catastrophic magnitude of the earthquake in Haiti on television has been tragic. For me, in tragedies of this extent there is always a feeling of “what can I do.” I often get a sense the Lord has equipped you and I to be the hand extended to people in need.

Many of you are in prayer and fasting this month. As we seek the Lord for so much this 2010 I know my heart has been turned to praying and fasting for the people of Haiti. I know our prayers are heard, so I encourage you to keep the candle of prayer lit at your house. This is a time where millions need God’s love.

Pastor Rory has done missions work in Haiti and has ministry associates in country. He made a call Wednesday morning. The next morning we heard back from his friend who leads 34 churches, along with medical centers and schools. His description of the destruction is horrifying, but they are on the ground doing all they can for people.

You and I must help. On Sunday I’d like you to consider giving to the people of Haiti generously. I’ve set a goal in my mind of how we can help from Monroe, and now I ask you to prayerfully consider what your goal of giving will be.

Will you give a big gift on Sunday to help the people of Haiti?

We will receive the offering as usual on Sunday morning. When you give simply designate the offering on the envelope and we will move the funds along to the front lines of relief first thing next week.

Pressing the Mark,

Jeff Knight, Lead Pastor
