SEEK FIRST (1/4)

There is one consistent theme in the Bible. It starts early in scripture and continues all the way through the end. There are numerous examples of people doing it well, and not so well. It dominates the lives of those most in love with the Lord, and is scarcely found in the unbelieving. The religious leaders challenge it at the core, and the devoted teach it to everyone they know. Later in the gospel record, when Jesus has resurrected, he calls for it again. He challenges those who are listening to remain in the upper room and do exactly "it." I am convinced it is the single most important step in having the kind of life every human desires because, at its' core, is the essence of all that is good.

Matt 6:33, "Seek first the kingdom of God..." That's it. Seek First! Simply put it means to, seek first. Not second, not only when things are really good, or bad. It means to Seek First all the time.

With all that Seeking the Lord First does to benefit me it's strange that sometimes I don't do it. Sometimes I want to take things into my own hands, and not Seek First. Sometimes I get concerned, and worried; I try doing too much, try too hard. But when I connect with this scripture it brings me back, centers my faith, reconnects my heart. Seeking first gets my priorities in line, fixes my frustrations, brings the help I need. Seeking God First focuses my efforts, makes up for my inefficiencies. Seeking First checks my pride, motivates my heart and re fires my passion.
