LAKELAND REVIVAL AND HEALER
It's been an interesting couple of weeks.
First, Todd Bentley, leader of the Lakeland Revival, that was aired on GODTV for the last months, disclosed that he and his wife had separated, and this week Fresh Fire Ministries announced Todd had, "entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff." Todd has stepped away from the Board of Directors, and all public ministry for a season to receive counsel in his personal life.
Secondly, Michael Guglielmucci, writer and performer of the amazing song Healer, announced he is a fake and never has/had cancer. This is the same guy who came out on stage with an oxygen tank to perform live at one of the most influential churches in the world.
Obviously, in both cases it reveals the worst side of what can happen when influential Christian leaders lack. Sadly, both these men will reinforce the skeptic, empower the brazen, and leave many of asking, "What the heck?" Even worse, their own families--wives, children and parents--were totally blindsided.
These kinds of revelations are not new. Many can remember the scandals of the past--Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker--and the frustration it brought to so many who follow Christ.
Where am I at with these latest world-wide shockers? Angry the faith of many will suffer because of the disregard of a few. Compassionate the Lord will heal these men whom God used regardless of their insufficiencies. Cautious about believing sensational stories. Prayerful, my own life is, "not led into temptation, but delivered from evil." Vigilant, to empower The Rock Church to govern, lead and grow in integrity of the highest caliber.
In the next couple days I am going to blog: Our Response: When Christian Leaders Fail. Tune in.
