LIFE=DEVOTION TO GOD (3/15)

"And all the believer's devoted themselves to...the sharing of meals (including the Lord's Supper)..." Acts 2:42

The other day I go and see a Naturopath about some diet stuff, to get healthier in my eating. We are talking and he is like, "Jeff, you got to cut the caffeine, cut back on the sugar, cut the preservatives and all the other additives. Red meat only once a week." His words were militant and I was motivated. It's been 3 weeks yesterday since I have had chocolate, Red Bull, Coca-Cola and a host of other life's enjoyments, not to mention, I have not had one burger, steak or BBQ'd ribs. When it's time to cut stuff out I go big.

Here is something I believe we need to "cut out" of our lives as those devoted to God, eating alone. Seriously, sharing meals together is one of the most valuable things we can do. One of the most relevant pieces of furniture in the New Testament is the table. When we share meals together we are sharing life.

Take it a step further and share the Lord's Supper with family, friends and other believer's. You don't have to be in church to remember what Jesus did. You can engage the Lord Supper daily, weekly and as often as you like.

When was the last time you had dinner with someone for the first time? When was the last time you shared a meal with a friend? Living devoted to God is not just spiritual overtones. Sometimes it's the simplicity of a meal together. Happy BBQing on the 4th!
