WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

By Jeff Knight on Last Weekend

It's Tuesday and I am reflecting on the weekend today with a giant gasp. I'm like, "Thank God this one is over." It seems like there was not much on the agenda, but reality was much different...

Major Decision
As of today I no longer have voice mail at the office. I know it sounds crazy, but one too many bad experiences where someone leaves a voice mail expecting an immediate return call. When I cannot meet their urgent expectation because I am intentionally productive--meeting with people, praying, preparing for Sunday, leading teams, writing books, building leaders, planning, helping our team, coaching business people, mentoring men, loving my wife and a dozen other things worth mentioning--they get ticked off and throw around a bunch of "the church don't care" accusations. Here's the solution, leave a message with my Assistant Staci. Staci will get the message, determine which person on my team needs to make the call back and execute the communication. I'm really conflicted I have to do this after all these years, but it will help my response time and make certain no one falls through the cracks when it is urgent. When someone is missed for ministry by our church it devastates me and I determined after this Sunday it has happened with my voice mail for the last time.

Speaking of Team Ministry

I am so thankful for our pastoral team here at The Rock Church. They are very helpful in a plethora of situations. Though there are many, I want to give a shout out to Rory, Dan, and Travis who handle dozens of pastoral situations each week at the office, many of them with people who do not even attend our church. This Sunday I received a call from a Monroe Police Sergeant who needed helped with a guy tweaking on Meth. Rory and Travis were at the guys house within minutes. Thank you team for handling the drop bys, who only want money; the dramatic, who only want time; and those we truly can help. Our church helps hundreds of people a year, not so we can brag about it, but so people can get help. Our elder ship, support team, and church body help hundreds more--just look around on Sunday morning and you will see someone whom is better off because of God's hand on The Rock Church and its leaders.

IFIT: I am The Rock Church
Coming up on September 23rd is the annual Volunteers and Vision Evening. This is a fantastic time to experience the goodness that comes from The Rock Church as hundreds of people are honored for their passion to help people through volunteering. Check out the promo here.

#70

Saturday I had a great time at the race track. I started 5th and finished 8th, but the cool part was I was backwards twice and still managed to battle back up to 8th. I passed a bunch of cars on Saturday, was three wide 3 different times and had a battle with the 22 of Lex Johnson that lasted most of the race. Also, I've said it before so people know, my race car is not funded by The Rock Church. My racing is funded by sponsors and my own personal bank account. It is my hobby, it's what I do with my money in the summer. If anyone ever says otherwise, they don't know what they are talking about. I was thankful for the offering our elder ship took for me on Father's Day, but to date, I have not taken that money for my race program because I have yet to need it.

Sunday's Message

Big thank you to the drama crew that knocked the skit out of the park. It really set up the thoughts I had to communicate. Families are changed because of this two-week parenting series.

Celebrate Recovery

I was thrilled to hear CR had record attendance last night and that one man gave his life to Jesus Christ renouncing a life of drug abuse. Way to go team! Celebrate Recovery is an extension of my heart in our church. When I adopted this concept a few years ago I had hope it would HELP people. It is helping dozens of people and I am very thankful for those who have dedicated their energy to serving God and people through this ministry. Way to go Michele and all the leaders in this ministry. I pray for you daily, that this ministry would be fruitful and help people.

Excited About
* I am excited about this weekend. The annual BPD (BIG PARADE DAY) on Saturday is always one of the most awesome days of our church calendar. Thousands of students, teachers, and families will be given school supplies and that fires me up!
* I am excited for Warren Barfield this weekend. Get here on Sunday morning as he will be leading worship both services. We will be giving out school supplies to dozens of families before and after service.
* I am excited to race on Saturday night in front of our church crowd. This weekend is always heavily attended by our church and I am ready to get it done.
* I am excited about prayer this week and next. There is some major break through going on in the house!!!
