SUNDAY NIGHT SUMMARIES ON MONDAY
It's Monday and time for Sunday night summaries...
* Church was fantastic. Worship was over the top good. In addition, attendance was solid for June and mot important several people committed their lives to Christ while one man named Jack prayed for the very first time. Jack who looks to be a part of the "greatest generation" really blessed me with his boldness when he stood.
* During our salvation calls at TRC, when I give the salvation call many hands are often lifted, but then I challenge those who have prayed for the first time to be bold and stand. I am certain there are others who pray and do not stand, but scripture is clear, "when we proclaim Him before others, Jesus proclaims us before God." We may only see 1-10 first time salvation's per week, but the facts are, those people are ready to launch. Each week those who stand for the first time inspire others to invite those needing Jesus. At least a few times per month I get an email or text message that reads, "My _______ stood, I can't believe it." The blank could be a family member, co-worker, close friend, in-law. Those who see this weekly are continually inspired to believe for people finding Jesus Christ.
* At the track this weekend it was similar to last weekend in that the motor blew up. The re-builder failed to assemble the engine properly and it blew up with about 20 laps on it in practice. The crew Mike, Scott, Eddie, Will, Aaron, Roger, Dano, and our friend Fred Hall all worked together seamlessly to get the engine removed and the back-up put in before the main event. I missed qualifying and practice so I started dead last in the field.
* By lap 16 I had worked to 11th and was battling with Jeff Holden in the 12 car. My car was a lot better than his getting into and through the center of the corner, so much so, that I had to wait for his car to turn. Finally, I started trying him in the dirt on the inside because my car would cut to the bottom of the track so good. Well, on a re-start I went for it totally and got alongside Jeff with my left side tires in the dirt. Jeff knew he was out of position and cut down on me hard, hitting the right front of my car pretty good--tore up the fender! The force jerked the wheel out of my hand and I started to spin. In a split second I was going around so I pinned the throttle to finish the spin out and keep going, but the motor died. I got it restarted and didn't lose a lap. I started from the back a 2nd time and passed two cars right after the re-start, but then a bad day went worse. The car started getting really loose. It was loose in, through the center and off the corner. Turns out the left rear tire was going flat--probably from driving through the dirt:) While crossing the start finish line it tried to spin to the right and into the fence so I pulled off to see what was up. The guys changed the tire and I went back out for the final laps, but I was a few laps down. I ended up finishing exactly where I started--last. The last two weekends have been very good for the team in the "working together" category. It was a tough points night for me, but I think things will turn around as we approach the mid-season championships. I have to gain about 40 points to catch the rookie of the year points leader. That's 20 positions on the track, so I need a long stretch of good runs...and a motor that will allow me some practice!
* I am so proud of my wife. This weekend she got her motorcycle endorsement. She went to a four-day class, passed the written and then did a bunch of skills and tested. By Sunday night she was a bona-fide motorcycle rider. She writes about it here.
* At the Meet and Greet on Sunday I met a lot of great newcomer's to The Rock.
* I am so grateful to the Lord for this weekend for our church! We have faithful leaders, volunteers, attendees, and members! Let's keep the momentum through the summer!!!
