George Parker

One of our elders George Parker, aka. GP, is being inducted into the John Wooden Wall of Honor here in Seattle for his contributions in coaching young athletes. Congrats GP!

George grew up in Harlem, NY playing basketball. Although he would never tell you of his prestigious achievements and awards there are many. George was All-City New York his Jr. and Sr. year of HS, which is the highest honor in HS Basketball. He was offered scholarships to Division one schools throughout the US, but chose to come to St. Martin's in Tacoma where he met his wife Margrete and played hoops receiving several awards for outstanding play. After college he played a short stint professionally. GP and Margrete have 2 children and have been coaches to many others. George is a Lead Engineer and Chemist for the Boeing Corp and has multiple degrees in his field earning the respect of the elite in chemistry.

When he is not experimenting on the materials used to make the airplanes we fly in, he is an Assistant Basketball Coach at Seattle Pacific University where they are currently making another run toward March Madness. Last year, making the final four, George gave me a commemorative ball signed by him which I thought was very cool. Coach P has been a great inspiration to me and pillar for our church as an elder for over 20 years! Love ya George and congratulations on this award. You are well deserving!
